King Frederik of Denmark drives royal fans wild by trying out hammer throw, BMX biking and table tennis in show of support for his national teams ahead of the Olympics

King Frederik of Denmark has delighted his royal fans by throwing himself into a handful of Olympic sports, showing his support for his national teams.
The 56-year-old European monarch was seen in a series of videos on social media this week participating in BMX cycling, table tennis, hammer throwing and clay pigeon shooting alongside Olympic athletes.
On Tuesday, the official Instagram account of the Danish royal family revealed that Denmark will send 135 athletes to compete in 20 categories at the Olympic Games in Paris next week.
The Instagram Reel showed the King surprising table tennis players Jonathan Groth, Anders Lind, Martin Buch Andersen and Tobias Rasmussen during one of their training sessions.
After King Frederick had greeted the players, he was challenged to a match against one of the players.
Although the king had natural talent, he struggled to keep up with the Olympians and accidentally missed the table a few times.
Frederik, however, seemed to find it very sporting and then watched in amazement as the team competed against each other.
The next day, the royal family shared a video on Instagram of King Frederik attempting the hammer throw.
During his visit to a training complex, the King's training was supervised by Katrine Koch Jacobsen, the first female hammer thrower Denmark ever sent to the Olympic Games.
Frederik started by studying Katrine's technique before trying it himself without a hammer.
When Katrine was satisfied with his progress, Frederik picked up the hammer and continued to improve his form.
The video ends with Frederik throwing the hammer against a wall covered with a sheet.
After Katrine complimented him, the king joked that he didn't need to try a second time.

On Thursday, the royal family shared a video of King Frederik's visit to Amager, where he watched BMX rider Malene Kejlstrup training.
Although the royal family tried out a BMX bike, he avoided any jumps on the course, preferring to stick to a flat course.
The caption read: 'Malene Kejlstrup is a former under-23 world champion and European champion, and she has been focused on preparing for the Olympic Games in Paris recently.'
The King watched from the sidelines and seemed quite impressed as Malene made her lap around the course.

The videos proved to be a hit with royal fans, who called King Frederik the 'coolest king ever'
Finally, the royal family posted a video on Instagram yesterday showing Frederik shooting clay pigeons under the supervision of Jesper Hansen, who is participating in the Olympic Games for the fourth time.
The clip was filmed on a rainy day in spring and shows Frederik being taught how to use the weapon and how to aim.
After a few misses at the beginning, Frederik looks proud when he scores at the end of the clip.
The videos proved to be a hit with royal fans, who called Frederik the “coolest king ever.”
Someone wrote: 'I have never seen such a cool king. The Danes are lucky to have such a monarch.'
Another added: 'He's really cool and down to earth, that's Frederik King of Denmark, bewitching people with magic!!'
Meanwhile, a third added: 'What a sporty king!'
King Fredrik is known for his love of sports and started the 'Royal Run' initiative in Denmark in 2018.
