Manika to lead India's table tennis attack at Paris Olympics – Employment & Education
Paris, July 25 (Rep) India’s table tennis sensation Manika Batra is gearing up for a thrilling showdown with Great Britain’s 18-year-old prodigy Anna Hursey in the opening round of the women’s singles event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Manika, seeded 18th, is no stranger to the Olympic spotlight, having reached the third round in Tokyo 2020, making her third consecutive appearance since her debut in Rio 2016. Anna, who is making her Olympic debut, is ranked 103rd in the world, a significant gap to Manika’s 28th position. Despite the difference in rankings, the match promises to be a riveting clash of experience versus youthful exuberance. In another thrilling matchup, Sreeja Akula, seeded 16th, will take on Sweden’s Christina Kallberg in their round of 64 encounter.
