Former Exeter coach accused of possession of sexual abuse of children

Exeter A former assistant coach for the Jongenshockey team of Exeter High Schools is confronted with crime accusations that he was in possession of images of sexual abuse of children.
Henrik Barbin, 28, was arrested on Monday on 10 class A crime accusations of possession of sexual abuse of children, according to the police of Exeter. The Department stated in a press release, the images had not involved anyone locally.
Barbin was charged on Tuesday due to the charges in the court of Brentwood. He is currently held in preventive detention after a judge ruled that his release would endanger the safety of the community.
In the arrest warrant, Exeter Police Detective Bailey Teixeira wrote that Barbin had worked as schools Assistant -Hockey Coach Since 2019. She also wrote Barbin Coached the Make-A-Wish All-Star Hockey Classic in 2024, involving male and female high school seniors from Vermont and New Hampshire.
Heather Murray, director of Human Resources for SAU 16, said that Barbin was a voluntary coach and was never employed by the district. She said that SAU 16 heard of the investigation 27 February, at which point they reported Barbin that he was no longer eligible for volunteer coaching.
“We encourage all Exeter families who are worried about contacting the Central Office,” said Murray.
According to judicial documents, Barbin had computer files of young boys who commit sexual acts with adult men. They contain videos for as long as 15 minutes and photos and videos with multiple children, according to the complaints.

According to the arrest warrant, the police received a tip on January 30 that a cloud storage Dropbox account in Exeter had “apparent child pornography”. The account led the police to Barbin and the police asked a search order for his home and vehicle on 26 February.
The next day, 27 February, Teixeira and a detective from the Merrimack Police Department carried out the search and interviewed Barbin.
Initially, Teixeira explained, Barbin denied the possession of a Dropbox account. As the conversation progressed, however, Teixeira noted that Barbin admitted that he had used Dropbox during his student days and acknowledged that he had drawn up an account as a teenager.
According to the arrest warrant, Barbin said that he was a bit addicted to porn, but a line has been drawn in the sand. He told the police that he never shared or downloaded a child pornography, but he admitted that he had clicked on the left who had such images, according to Teixera.
Teixeira wrote Barbin and told the police that he sometimes clicks on the left show those weird things on Twitter, which he described as full of porn. He also stated that in the past he bought links to gain access to content for adults, including Bates, who refers to someone who is catfished or cheated, in sending nudes who are then posted online. According to Teixeira, Barbin explained that leads to groups of files that have photos of sexual abuse of children, but he is getting rid of it.
Barbin also told the officers that there was no chance that he had an inappropriate relationship with one of the hockey players in the team he coached, according to Teixeira.
The search for Barbins Vehicle, a Toyota Corolla 2017, as well as the house, yielded two iPads alongside several other electronic devices. A house search order was then granted for Barbins Dropbox account on March 12. The results, according to Teixeira, showed a number of files with alleged images of sexual abuse of children.
Barbin is planned for a likely hearing on April 3. He is represented by the New Hampshire Public Defender Office.
If convicted, Barbin could be confronted with a prison sentence of 7 to 15 years.
