Charlotte Edwards appointed as head coach of England
England has appointed the legendary former captain Charlotte Edwards as their new head coach.
The 45-year-old, the leading Run scorer of England, replaces Jon Lewis, who was fired in March after the 16-0 ashes who insists in Australia.
Edwards played more than 300 times for England in a 19-year career, including more than 200 games as a captain.
In a 10-year spell, Edwards won three Ashes series and both the 50-over and 20-over World Cups in 2009.
She was surprisingly fired in 2016 and replaced by Heather Knight, who then enjoyed her own nine -year -old government.
Knight was also fired in the aftermath of the Ashes debacle, but will stay as a player, now under coach Edwards.
“I can't wait to help this team move forward and bring us to success. It means the world for me to have the three lions on my chest again,” said Edwards.
“Leading England as a captain was my life for 10 years and I will be passionate about this team and our legacy forever. We have such a talented group of players, and I am enthusiastic about working with them and improving them as well as as a team.”
England still has to call a new captain. Vice-captain Nat Scivering has previously stated that she would be interested in the role, while off-spinner Charlie Dean said she would “not say no”.
The revolution at the top of the English team comes as a result of an assessment in the Ashes, led by director of Cricket Clare Connor for Women.
From a realistic point of view, Edwards was the striking candidate to lead a rebuild, where Connor described her as a “proven winner”. After her great gaming career, she was very successful as a coach.
Her southern Vipers are the strongest team in the English Domestic Cricket and Edwards 'Southern Brave won the ladies' hundred in 2023.
Abroad, Edwards Mumbai Indians led to the Women's Premier League in India in three seasons. In 2022, the Sydney Sixers of Edwards were defeated in the final of the Great Bash of Australia.

Edwards leads England in Home White-Ball Series against the West Indies and India this summer and builds the 50-over World Cup in India in October.
