Introducing the Moz API for Google Sheets

Weve officially released the Moz API for Google Sheets. We will guide you to a simple function tour.

This Google Sheets add-on allows users to easily collect Moz URL metrics without using code directly in Google Sheets and provides some additional features to help manipulate the data.

In the past, if you needed link metrics for hundreds of URLs, you would have to manually enter them one at a time or have the technical expertise to use the LinkScape API. So I created this free Google Sheets add-on. Now you can pull the link metrics for these URLs in seconds, no coding required.

Below is an example of using the Moz API for Sheets add-on.

Get Moz Spam Score with metrics to help with toxic link analysis (requires paid plan) Link Out Reach, Domain Ratings and other domain and page permissions to help you assess the quality of your site Get (Available in Free and Paid Plans) Use built-in custom formulas to parse URLs and URLs without writing complex nested formulas or using regular expressions Can be saved in the Wayback Archive.

Here’s what you can expect from the add-on:

All you need to get started is a Google account and Mozscape API credentials (free plan available).

Important Limitation: The free plan allows you to collect domain and page permissions for 200 URLs at a time, at a rate of 10 URLs per 10 seconds. The paid plan allows all metrics for 10,000 URLs at a time with no rate limiting.

After installing the add-on, you need to enter your Mozscape API credentials to activate the tool. From there, just select the metric, add the URL and the report will work.

Formula tab

There are some useful custom formulas that come with the add-on. Just click on the Formulas tab at the bottom of the add-on to see it. When you enter one of these formulas, a help file will pop up and guide you.

For example, you can use the = PARSE_URL expression to quickly parse a URL into roots, paths, anchors, and so on. You don’t have to write new length expressions or remember difficult regular expressions.
