Public Preview Update: Expanded support for Nest…

Dear Google Nest Community,

We're excited to announce that we're rolling out new updates in public preview for Nest camera and doorbell users. Starting today, we're expanding support for the first-generation wired Nest Doorbell (formerly known as Nest Hello) in the Google Home app public preview. Read on to sign up for the Google Home app public preview and try our latest features today. Additionally, garage door detection will become available to Nest Aware subscribers with eligible cameras in the Google Home app.

Expanded support for 1st generation wired Nest Doorbell in public preview

We continue to work on building the best Google Home app experience across all devices, and after adding support for the first-gen Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor last year, we're expanding support for the original wired Nest Doorbell in the Home app. Over the next few weeks, we'll be rolling out access to the first-gen wired Nest Doorbell to public preview users. Once your doorbell is in the Google Home app public preview, you'll be able to manage it alongside your other devices in the Home app and try out new features like an updated camera history experience that lets you quickly switch between timeline and event list views to see your history.

These new camera history experiences can be accessed both in the Google Home app and on the web, and since it's in public preview, you can also provide feedback to help us make the experience even better.

Monitor your garage door with advanced AI image detection in the Google Home app

We continue to develop new ways to give you peace of mind with our advanced AI-powered image detection capabilities. Thanks to the feedback we received during our public preview release, we've improved the experience and are excited to bring Garage Door Detection to all compatible Nest Cam users in the Google Home app. Your compatible Nest camera will detect and notify you if your garage is left open – no additional hardware or sensors required.

During initial setup, you can choose to mount the camera inside or outside your garage door. When mounting your camera, make sure it has an unobstructed view to your garage door and that the camera is clear of any obstructions. Learn how to set up garage door detection here.

Garage Door Detection1 is available to users in the US and Canada who have a Nest Aware subscription and a Nest Cam (indoor, wired, 2nd gen) or a Nest Cam (outdoor or indoor, battery-powered) that's wired for power.

We continue to invest in our public preview program and encourage you to try out our latest releases and provide feedback to help us improve your feature experience.

FAQ

Q: Which Nest cameras and doorbells can be transferred to the Google Home app in Public Preview?

A: The expanded Google Home app support is currently available in public preview on the following devices:

Nest Cam Indoor (wired, 1st generation) Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, 1st generation) Nest Doorbell (wired, 1st generation) – formerly known as Nest Hello

Q: Why do I need to transfer my camera to the Home app?

A: The Home app makes it easier to manage your compatible third-party and Google Nest devices, all in one place, in a more personalized and organized way. It also gives you the great Nest app experiences, like controlling your camera, watching live video directly on your home screen, and browsing historical clips. The all-new camera controller includes quick switching between event and timeline views, as well as fine-grained video scrubbing, so you can find important footage faster.

You'll be able to manage your Nest Doorbell alongside your other devices in the Home app, and explore features like Script Editor to set up powerful automations like turning on your lights when someone shows up in your backyard while you're away. Plus, you can use the Google Home for Web interface to check out your live feed from most web browsers, review your video history, and get Nest Doorbell notifications on your Pixel Watch with Google Home for Wear OS. Learn more about what to expect in the Home app here.

Q: How do I transfer my Nest Doorbell to the Home app?

A: If you're already signed up for the public preview and have a first-generation wired Nest Doorbell, you can use both the Nest and Google Home apps.[お気に入り]The tab will display a prompt with instructions when you can transfer your Nest Doorbell from the Nest app to the public preview.[設定]You can also transfer your device via tab. Access to first-generation Nest Doorbell users will gradually expand over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for prompts.

If you're not part of the public preview, follow the instructions here to join: Google Home app public preview.

For detailed instructions on how to migrate your Nest Doorbell, visit our Help Center.

Q: Can I still use the Nest app after migration?

A: Once you move your Nest Doorbell to the Google Home app, it will only be available there. The Nest app will no longer show live video or store event history. Any video history from before the transfer will remain there until it expires. Your old non-Nest Doorbell camera will remain in the Nest app until it is supported for migration to the Home app and you can begin the migration process.

Q: What if I change my mind and want to move my camera back to the Nest app?

A: We want you to try out the new camera experience in the Home app, so you can reverse camera forwarding during the public preview. For detailed instructions, see our Help Center.

Q: What is the difference between the Google Home app and the Nest app?

A: We prioritized building the best possible experience for the Home app so you can control more devices in one place. Initially, we focused on providing a modern video history experience for camera and doorbell users, but we recently added features to ensure a seamless transition from the Nest app to the Home app. Once you move to the Google Home app, you'll have access to our latest features, like the ability to create custom clips and review history in Events and Timeline views on the web.

Some camera and doorbell features currently in the Nest app aren't available in the Home app, but we're continuing to work to bring the best possible Nest app camera experience to the Home app. To learn more about Nest app features that aren't available in the Home app, visit our Help Center.

Q: When will other devices currently in the Nest app (such as other Nest Cams) be supported in the Home app?

A: We are actively working to migrate additional Nest devices to the Home app and will provide updates as more information becomes available. We will continue to support more Nest devices and features in the Home app while maintaining high standards for privacy, security, and user experience. Each device has its own complexities that require infrastructure migration, device software updates, and hardware supportability assessments.

Q: Will Google still support the Nest app?

A: There are no changes to the Nest app at this time, you can continue to use it as you always have.

Q: How do I know which Google Nest Cam I have?

A: You can see which Google Nest Cams you have by going here.

Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
