Rumors: Datamine reveals everything about the new Nintendo Switch revision

This is the 7th day of the year, but Nintendo rumors are spreading online, so pick up the salt and read it.

According to an article about Wccftech, renowned data miner and console hacker Scires M has revealed “new information” about the rumored Switch’Pro’model by sieving the firmware code. There is also considerable speculation.

With this in mind, the revised system can take advantage of the Mariko SoC, apparently under the chord name “Aula”. In addition to this, it has both docking and handheld play, 4K support in some way or format, and is believed to include OLED screens. The Realtek chip may be in the dock instead of the system.

Nintendo has been working on a new model with an actually upgraded display for about 1.5 to 2 years. Given the signs displayed in the firmware, I personally think it’s 4K, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet and may be wrong.

The new hardware is codenamed Aula and uses Mariko SoC. The code has a lot of references to it (the mood already theoretically supports the new display).

The tablet itself definitely has an upgraded display, I’m not sure if it’s 4K.

I think Aula is 4K because it also supports the Realtek chip advertised as “4K UHD multimedia SoC” in the firmware. The chip may be inside the new dock instead of inside the tablet, but there’s still no way to tell from the firmware code.

Aula explicitly supports handheld mode. It’s not just docked. It’s Calcio. Calcio doesn’t have a game card slot and battery, so it doesn’t seem to be dedicated / released internally.

If you are interested, you can see the display code of the boot sysmodule. The new display does not support power management pwm. It has its own vendor-specific bs that I had to reverse engineer and implement a month or two ago.

Mariko has * substantially * better cooling and battery life. This is a more authentic die shrink than the original generation.

My best guess (pure guess, no signs of firmware that applies to this) is to push to a higher clock rate overall if additional performance is needed.

But yeah, I’m guessing that the game will be like a “DSi Enhanced” game, or how some games have benefited from PS4 Pro despite working on PS4. ..

After reviewing previous discussions with hexkyz, the upgraded tablet display is an OLED screen. The resolution of the tablet itself is probably not high, so I think the 4krealtek chip is likely to be a newer dock than I thought it would be.

Vanilla probably won’t.

We are in the realm of speculation. Aula has a new GPIO that redbox is not related to support for this, so I tentatively speculate that the redbox unit will not support the new one.
