A 3.7-magnitude earthquake occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 5:13 p.m. local time near Mammoth Lakes, Mono County, California, USA, according to the US Geological Survey. The earthquake was located at a depth of 4.9 miles which is very shallow. Shallow earthquakes are more strongly felt by people than deep earthquakes because they are closer to the surface.
