The earthquake occurred in Williamsville, Missouri, on Wednesday at about 8:53 p.m. and was felt by people in several nearby states. Earthquakes of this magnitude are often felt, but they usually do not cause any significant damage. The geological event struck the line between a weak and moderate earthquake. There have been reports online of people feeling tremors as far away as Memphis, Tennessee. Geologists say that although it is likely not felt in the urban centers of Missouri, Kansas City and St. Louis, a slight tremor may be felt in every city.
