An earthquake occurred in the early hours of Monday morning off the northern town of Vellore in Tamil Nadu, the National Center of Seismology said.

The earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale, occurred on Monday at 04:17:22 PST at a depth of 25 kilometers and was 59 kilometers off Vellore and about 184 kilometers west of Chennai, the National Space Station under the supervision of the Ministry of Earth Sciences said.
