More than 20 people were injured after a 5.5-magnitude earthquake rocked China’s Yunnan Province

At least 22 people were injured in a 5.5-magnitude earthquake that hit Ninglang County in southwest China’s Yunnan Province on Sunday, local media reported, citing authorities. The earthquake hit Lijiang City, southwest China’s Yunnan Province, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center. The earthquake was felt at 3:02 p.m. Sunday (Beijing time), Xinhua reported. The US Geological Survey said the quake’s epicenter was 115 kilometers from Lijiang in Yunnan Province.

Although there were no reports so far of damage to homes according to the provincial seismological department, Xinhua News Agency said 60 search and rescue teams have been dispatched to the epicenter. China regularly experiences earthquakes, especially in the western and southwestern mountainous regions.
