On Thursday, June 4 at 6 pm, Oris House of Architecture (Kralja Držislava 3) launches in Zagreb, the International Friends of Oris Exhibition, which will be displayed until July 31, 2020. The exhibition will be organized according to recommendations for the prevention of the emerging epidemic of COVID-19 During public events and gatherings, issued by the Croatian Institute of Public Health.

In stimulating the global pandemic and devastating earthquake that struck Zagreb on March 22nd, the Oris Friends Gallery is a symbol of hope and optimism. Oris House of Architecture has invited more than 70 architects and featured photos from around the world, who we have collaborated with on many occasions, to participate in the exhibition. Their response and contribution is a gesture of friendship and hope for a better future, as well as an affirmation of excellent cooperation in presenting contemporary architecture in the Oris, Oris House of Architecture and Days of Oris symposium.

‘The show we see today is organized when the whole world deals with Covid-19. Yes, our current situation is unique. No one can predict what life will be like in these past months. However, Oris continues its natural activity in creating a gallery. So, they tell us something very deep. How lucky we are that some things can go on, perhaps in different formats or with certain modifications, but activities continue and allow us to appreciate and rejoice in the enjoyment of normal life.

Finally, as the world struggles with the present and the future because of the epidemic, why is the architecture fair so important? I think the exhibition is also an invitation for the profession to take on a new and expanded role. Everyone has seen first-hand how our physical realm is directly related to our health and well-being. Of course, architects knew this but they were not always able to express this or act accordingly. The exhibition is a sample of energy, ideas, solidarity and optimism. The future will not be like the past, but it can be positive and may be better in some respects if architects have an impact.
