Tammy Duckworth History of U.S. Military and Public Service

Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth, a U.S. military veteran who lost two legs in the service of Iraq, has suggested that he hates America after he attacked conservative host Fox News Tucker Carlson. “Does @TuckerCarlson want to walk a mile on one leg and then tell me whether I love America or not?” Duckworth wrote on Twitter. Duckworth was awarded the Purple Heart Award in 2004 after he lost his legs when he was hit by a helicopter co-piloting the Iraq War. Duckworth later retired from the Illinois National Guard as a lieutenant colonel and served as assistant secretary to the Department of Veterans Affairs in the Obama administration. When she was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016, she became the first female double amputee to serve in the chamber and became the first senator to serve. Carlson, whose controversial comments over the years prompted numerous boycotts of advertisers, sought to question his patriotism on the Fox News program. “You don’t think you criticized Tammy Duckworth in any way because she once served in the military,” Carlson said, acknowledging that he was aware of her service. #TuckerCarlson #CNN #Notes.
