Earthquake in Faridabad, Haryana Today: The National Centre for Seismology confirmed that an earthquake measuring 2.4 magnitude struck Faridabad in Haryana state at 10:54 am on Thursday.

Faridabad: Two earthquakes jolted Faridabad and its surrounding areas in Haryana state on Thursday morning. The National Centre for Seismology confirmed the tremors in the city. No casualties have been reported so far. The National Centre for Seismology, the federal government's nodal agency for monitoring earthquake activity in India, said the tremors measured 2.4 magnitude and were 5 km deep.

First quake at 10:54 AM

The first quake, measuring 2.4 magnitude, struck Faridabad in Haryana state at 10:54 a.m., the National Meteorological Department said.

The second earthquake at 11:43 am

The National Center of Meteorology confirmed that the second earthquake, measuring 2.4 on the Richter scale, struck the city again at 11:43 a.m.

Prior to this, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck Sirsa district of Haryana in April.

On the weather front, the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre in New Delhi said that light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely in the National Capital Region – Faridabad, Ballabgarh, Noida, Great Noida, Palwal and other areas.

Additionally, Faridabad also emerged as the most polluted city in Haryana and the second most polluted city in India during the first half of 2024. Research by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), which measured PM2.5 concentrations, found that Faridabad averaged 103 g/m³, well above national and international air quality standards.
