It rocked an earthquake of 7.6 Caribbean Islands, southwest of the Kayman Islands, on Saturday (February 8, 2025), according to the American Geological Survey, and urged some islands and countries people near the coastal line to move inside in a tsunami.

Usgs said the earthquake was hit at 6:23 pm local time in the middle of the sea and was a depth of 10 km. Its center is 130 miles (209 km) southwest of Georgetown in the Kayman Islands.

The American National Tsunami Warning Center said there is no tsunami alert to the main righteousness of the United States, but it issued a Tsunami consultant to Puerto Rico and the American Virgin Islands.

The Kayman Islands urged the risk management to the population near the coast to move inward and to a higher ground. He said the wave is expected to rise from 0.3 to 1 meter.

Puerto Rico Jennifer Gonzalez Colon said in a statement that he was in contact with emergency agencies after consulting a tsunami, but she did not recommend anyone leaving the coast.

The Dominican government also issued a tsunami alert and recommended the population on the coast to high areas “more than 20 meters of height and 2 kilometers internal.” He also urged ships to guidance or avoid entering the sea for the next few hours.
