Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has resigned for health reasons. He said he did not want his illness in the way of making decisions, and apologized to the Japanese for not fulfilling his mandate. He has been suffering from ulcerative colitis for 65 years, a disease of the intestines, but recently said his condition was deteriorating. Last year, he became a former prime minister of Japan.
