The number of new cases of confirmed coronaviruses per day in the UK has risen to 60,000 since the first pandemic began. According to government data on Tuesday, the number of people who tested positive was 60,916. One in 50 people in private homes in England had Covid last week – and one in 30 in London, according to the latest figures.
