Iran’s supreme leader has accused the country’s enemies of protesting at least 22 lives in protest.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was speaking for the first time last Thursday as people protested against Iran’s economic problems since the clashes with security forces.
Nine people, including a child, were killed overnight in violence in central Iran, state media said.
The protests are the largest since they were debated in the 2009 presidential election.
“In recent days, Iran’s enemies used different tools, including money, weapons, politics and intelligence, to create problems for the Islamic Republic,” the Iranian supreme leader said in a message on his official website.
