Deputies call for urgent action against gender-based domestic violence

A group of members of parliament has been urging the government to take urgent action to tackle cases of domestic abuse since the coronavirus movement began to slow down.

The Home Affairs Committee warns in a report released today that, as in other countries around the world, the UK is seeing an increase in domestic violence with calls for support for excessive charity led by refugees, an increase of 49%.

Last year, the Commission highlighted the lack of refugee beds; 64% of citations disappeared between 2018 – 2019 – now they say the pressure is higher.

The campaign, which counts the number of women killed, says 14 women and two children were killed in the first 3 weeks of the blockade – an average of 21 days over the last decade.
