Town Manager Alex Morse Warns Residents – NBC Boston
Officials in Provincetown, Massachusetts have warned after a few new cases of COVID-19 have recently been reported in the Cape Cod tourism community.
The cases are in “People who spent time in Provincetown”, some of which were groundbreaking cases, and those who tested positive for COVID-19 after vaccination, said town manager Alex. Morse said.
According to the state, there have been 34 new cases of coronavirus in Barnstable County in the last 14 days. The Provincetown Health Department and OuterCape Health Services are reportedly closely monitoring the situation.
Many cases are so-called “breakthrough” cases among those who have already been vaccinated. The case also includes a new Delta variant.
Breakthrough cases are rare-99.7% of new coronavirus cases in the United States are among unvaccinated people, Morse said. However, if the inoculated person is infected with the virus, the symptoms are less severe.

According to state officials, more than 80% of adults in Massachusetts have been vaccinated at least once, and more than 4 million residents have been fully vaccinated.
