Hospital Set Up to Test All New Covid Patients: Standard

Testing for Covid-19 will soon be mandatory for all patients visiting health care facilities, as the government plans to minimize the risks associated with the spread of the disease.

As the government demanded voluntary testing and 28 new cases were announced yesterday, the cost for hoteliers to take the Covid-19 test was also reduced to Sh1,000 per person at government facilities. This is from the standard price of Sh4,000.
These efforts are in line with the government’s plan to increase testing, even as it acknowledges the challenges of reagent access.

Patrick Amos, the director of health, said that in the case of a patient who died in a hospital or at home, Covid-19 status is unaware, so testing for the Sars-CoV-2 virus is a standard operating procedure.

Dr. Aman agrees that no cure has yet been registered for this condition, but noted that all traditional cures should be used with caution.

“We want to encourage this, but we want it to be done in a systematic and scientific way,” Aman said.
