Northern Michigan Health Department Ends Kindergarten-High School Mask Obligations
The Benji-Lee Lanault District Health Department When Northwestern Michigan Health Department Both have lifted the mask obligations for schools from kindergarten to high school.
It will take effect on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11:59 pm.
According to a health ministry press release, pandemic risk factors have decreased by 56% in the Grand Traverse area over the past three weeks.
The decline in the number of COVID-19 cases across the region and the availability of vaccines for children over the age of 5 were factors in terminating the mask obligation.

As a result of the announcement, Traverse City Area Public Schools will no longer require masks on the building from Friday, February 18th.
This follows January’s decision by the TCAPS Board of Education to comply with masking orders from the Benji-Leelanau District Health Department.
Due to federal transportation obligations, school buses will continue to require masks. The mission is currently expected to expire on March 18, 2022.
