Thomas Macias posted that he regretted attending the party. He died of the coronavirus the next day

Thomas Mathias, 51, went to a barbecue last month near his community in Lake Elsinore, about 70 miles from Los Angeles.

He never made it. He was rushed to the hospital and died the day after the post.

A friend was ill and joined the party
