US breaks through 3 million known infections as coronavirus surge
HOUSTON (Reuters)-US coronavirus outbreak exceeds 3 million due to record new number of confirmed infections on Tuesday and faced imminent shortage of intensive care unit beds in Florida Recorded confirmed cases.

Authorities have reported daily case load spikes in about 20 states over the past two weeks. This indicates that efforts to control the new coronavirus infection have failed in large swaths of the country.
Tuesday, California, Hawaii, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma and Texas broke new all-time highs in new cases. The last 24 states have also reported surprisingly high infection rates as a percentage of diagnostic tests performed in the past week.
In Texas alone, the number of inpatients has more than doubled in just two weeks.
This trend has led to more Americans seeking COVID-19 screening. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday that it will add short-term “surge” test sites to three metropolitan areas: Florida, Louisiana, and Texas.
In Houston, a row of over 200 cars tumbled around the United Memorial Medical Center, and people waited hours in the heat to test. Some arrived the night before to secure a line-up of drive-through sites.
“My brother got positive and took the test,” said Fred Robles, 32, who spent the night in the car. “There are so many people who need to take a test, and nothing you can do about it.”
32-year-old Dean Davis, who lost his job in a pandemic, said he arrived at the test site at 3 am Tuesday, waiting for hours on Monday, but failed the deadline.
“I got me here at 3 o’clock, maybe nobody’s here,” Davis said. “I got here, there was already a line.”
In Florida, more than 40 hospitals in 25 of 67 counties report full-scale intensive care units, according to the State Department of Health Administration. On Tuesday, only 17% of the total 6,010 beds for adults across the state were available, down from 20% three days ago.
Further hospitalizations are straining the healthcare system in many areas, increasing the number of deaths from respiratory illnesses that have killed more than 131,000 Americans to date.
The mortality model, widely quoted by the Institute of Health Metrics and Assessment (IHME) at the University of Washington, predicts that the U.S. deaths will reach 208,000 by 1 November Tuesday, with an outbreak in the fall. It is expected to gain a new momentum toward us.
According to IHME, the expected reduction in virus transmission during the summer did not come as previously predicted.
“The US has not experienced the true end of the first wave of pandemics,” said Dr. Christopher Murray, director of IHME, in a statement. “This will not spare the second surge in the fall. This will be particularly devastating in states that currently have high levels of infection.”
“Pressure on the Governor”
President Donald Trump, who urged the US economy to reopen and urged Americans to return to normal practice, said Tuesday that they would ask the Governor to open school in the fall.
Trump, who spoke at the White House, said that some may want to close the school for political reasons. “No way, so we will put pressure on the governor and everyone else to open the school.”
New COVID-19 infections have increased in 42 states, based on Reuters analysis over the past two weeks. By Tuesday afternoon, the number of confirmed cases in the United States exceeded 3 million, affecting nearly one in 100 Americans and a population about equal to Nevada.
In another hotspot, Arizona, the coronavirus test positive rate increased to 26% in the week to 5 July, leading 24 states with a positive rate of over 5%. The World Health Organization considers more than 5% a problem.
With the forced blockade in March and April virtually halting economic activity and leaving millions of Americans unemployed, this surge has prompted authorities to reopen businesses such as restaurants and bars. I went back.
The Texas trade fair, which was scheduled to open on September 25th, announced by the organizers on Tuesday, was canceled for the first time since World War II.
Governor Mike Dewein of Ohio said from Wednesday evening the state has ordered people in seven counties to wear face covers in public.
