Mental illness burdens older Americans
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Mental health continues to take a toll across the country and locally. National Alliance on Mental Illness A reported 474,000 adults in Nevada suffer from mental illness — more than eight times the population of Carson City — but Americans over 65 are more likely to suffer from mental illness due to the stresses associated with aging, declining physical health and loneliness.

So we need to teach them how to recognize it, how to have conversations with people who they think are struggling, and how to refer them to the right resources, and what those resources are in the community.”
