Reservations begin in Sask. For influenza and new coronavirus infectious disease vaccines
Appointments are now open for seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccination clinics across the state.
Residents can make appointments online and by phone, through a list of walk-in clinics or through the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) patient booking system. Reservations can be made for individuals or groups of up to 6 people.
Vaccination clinics are scheduled to begin the week of October 15th.
The SHA said residents can receive both vaccines at the same time, saying in a news release Tuesday that “it is safe to receive both vaccinations in one visit.”
“Getting vaccinated is critical to fighting respiratory diseases and will help keep you and your loved ones healthy,” SHA Medical Health Officer Dr. Tania Diener told News. stated in the release.
“We encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”
The SHA said people in high-risk groups should be vaccinated as soon as possible.
This includes people with chronic health conditions, pregnant women, children under 5, and older adults and their caregivers. If you live in Saskatchewan and are 65 years of age or older, a high-dose influenza vaccine is available.
Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are also available at participating local pharmacies and some doctor and nurse offices.
Children under the age of 5 can only be vaccinated at the SHA's public influenza clinic, health department, or by a doctor or nurse.
SHA recommends vaccination with currently available vaccines that provide protection against influenza strains likely to be prevalent this fall and winter.
