East Harlem Health Skare: Patient treated after suspected Ebola cases in CityMD, Manhattan, New York
East Harlem, Manhattan (WABC) – Two patients seeking treatment at an emergency care center spurred health scares in Manhattan over the weekend.
The horror occurred at CityMD on East 125th Avenue between Lexington Avenue and Third Avenue around 11:15am Sunday.
According to FDNY, the fear was the result of possible reports of patients being exposed to infection. The first responder of the scene transported the two to the hospital for further evaluation using personal protective equipment.
After consulting with the New York City Department of Health, officials determined that none of the patients were exposed or not exposed to the Ebola virus.
Dr. Michelle Morse, acting as a NYC Health Department, issued the following statement in response to the incident:
“The two patients who sought services at CityMD at 153 East 125th Street on February 16th have no Ebola. Neither patient has exposed Ebola or any other factors indicating risk. NYC Health The department is in close communication with FDNY, CityMD and NYC Health + Hospitals.
Meanwhile, CityMD issued its own statement following the fear, saying, “To protect the privacy of patients, there are no comments. There are no reports of Ebola virus or exposure that match what DOH confirmed.” .
