Eight deaths have been announced in the last three days in a patient infected with the coronavirus in one of the county’s NHS trusts.
The figures released on Saturday revealed six new deaths at the University Hospital of the Moa Cambu Bay NHS Foundation Trust, which operates hospitals in southern Cambria and northern Lancashire. Four deaths were recorded on Friday and two on Thursday.
NHS England figures also show that one death was announced on Sunday and another was announced at the Trust yesterday. Both deaths were recorded on Saturday.
The new death of a coronavirus patient was not announced by the North Cambria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust over the weekend.

Michel Schier, Chief Police Officer of the Cumbria Police Department, said: “The positive news is that the vaccine is approved and arrives in the county. The strategic coordinating group has been seriously working with various subgroups to consider how it will be done.
“It must be a positive direction, and hopefully we can all have a more normal 2021. It’s definitely a step in the right direction.”
