New research strongly suggests that Covid-19 invades the brain

Washington, December 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) Researchers claim that there is increasing evidence that people in Covid-19 are suffering from cognitive effects such as brain fog and malaise.

The study, published in Nature Neuroscience, found that spike proteins, often depicted as the red arms of the virus, can cross the blood-brain barrier in mice.

This strongly suggests that SARS-CoV-2, the cause of Covid-19, may invade the brain.

“Peplomer proteins, often referred to as S1 proteins, determine which cells a virus can enter. Usually, viruses do the same thing as their binding proteins,” said William A, lead author at the University of Washington, USA. Banks says.

According to banks, binding proteins like S1 usually separate from the virus and cause inflammation, which in itself causes damage.

“The S1 protein will probably release cytokines and inflammatory products into the brain,” he said.

In science, the severe inflammation caused by Covid-19 infection is called a cytokine storm.

When the immune system sees a virus and its proteins, it overreacts in an attempt to kill the invading virus. Infected individuals have brain fog, malaise, and other cognitive deficits.

The research team wanted to see this reaction to the HIV virus and see if the same thing happened with SARSCoV-2.

The bank said that the SARS-CoV2 S1 protein and the HIV-1 gp120 protein function similarly.

They are glycoproteins-proteins that have a lot of sugar on them, a characteristic of proteins that bind to other receptors.

Both of these proteins act as the arms and hands of the virus by grabbing other receptors. Both cross the blood-brain barrier, and like gp120, S1 can be toxic to brain tissue.

“It was like déjà vu,” said Banks, who has done extensive research on HIV-1, gp120, and the blood-brain barrier.

The bank’s lab is studying the blood-brain barrier for Alzheimer’s disease, obesity, diabetes, and HIV. However, they put work on hold and all 15 in the lab began experimenting with the S1 protein in April.

This study can explain many of the complications of Covid-19.

In their experiments, Labor said that transport of S1 was faster in the olfactory bulb and kidneys of men than in women.

This observation may be associated with increased susceptibility of men to the more serious Covid-19 results.
