Ireland records 101 virus deaths daily

Ireland recorded a record 101 coronavirus deaths on Tuesday’s daily tally, highlighting the major sacrifices the third wave of the pandemic has caused to the country.
This was the first time that the death toll of COVID-19 exceeded the 100 threshold, according to the Irish Ministry of Health.
According to the statistics, 3,418 people have died from the virus in Ireland, which has a population of about 5 million.
It has tackled the previous two waves of infection during the pandemic, with relatively low mortality and number of cases.
However, the number of incidents has skyrocketed since the emergence of new viral variants since Christmas, when restrictions were first relaxed.
In the first week of January, Ireland showed the highest per capita infection rate in the world, according to data from the University of Oxford.

Ireland imposed a third national blockade by January, schools, non-essential shops, restaurants and pubs were closed and residents were told to stay home.
