4.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Kutch and no one was injured

Officials said Koch again rocked a 4.2 magnitude quake on Sunday, but there was no report of damage to property or life from any part of the region.

“A 4.2 magnitude earthquake has been reported in the region and its epicenter near Bhachau. The agency quoted an officer at the Institute for Earthquake Research (ISR) based in Gandhinagar, saying that a 4.2-magnitude earthquake occurred on Sunday, about 14 kilometers from Bachao in the eastern part of Koch, and was preceded by four minor earthquakes of 1.8 degrees. 1.6, 1.7 and 2.1 degrees between 1.50 AM and 4.32 PM during the day. The agency quoted ISR as saying: “An earthquake measuring 4.2 magnitude was felt in the Kutch region and its epicenter 14 km northeast-northeast of Bachao in the Kutch region at 5.11 pm on Sunday.”

On the 14th of June, the same area recorded a 5.3-magnitude earthquake, which was felt across several parts of Surashtra, forcing people to rush from their homes. The Koch region is located in a “very dangerous” seismic region in which low-intensity earthquakes occur regularly.
