Iran is monitoring the outbreak of coronavirus this week, but the spread of online misinformation presents a new challenge to the authorities.

False or misleading medical advice to senior officials, fake letters or warnings, and some conspiracy theories about the origin of the virus have surfaced in Iranian social media and messaging apps in recent days.
