2 deaths of Covid-19 and 552 new confirmed cases
Two more deaths and 552 confirmed cases of Covid-19 were confirmed by the Ministry of Health tonight.
This means that there were a total of 1,915 Covid-19-related deaths in Ireland.
There are currently 552 new cases and a total of 62,002 confirmed Covid-19 cases in Ireland so far.
Of the cases notified today, the Ministry of Health said: 275 are male, 275 are female, 63% are under 45 and have a median age of 36.
Regarding the location of today’s cases, 173 are Dublin, 86 are Cork, 40 are Limerick, 30 are Donegal, and the remaining 223 span all other counties.
As of 2:00 pm today, 330 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 47 of whom are in the ICU, according to the HPSC. 17 additional hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.
This is because the Irish intensive care unit handles the largest number of Covid patients since the end of May.
Currently, 47 people are being treated in the critical care ward, and 6 have been hospitalized in the past day.
It is not close to the 155 peak that occurred in early April.
But infectious disease expert Dr. Jack Lambert is worried that if the community doesn’t stop, he’ll get there. “These high-risk individuals are in the community and either don’t wear masks or are family members bringing Covid-19 back to these high-risk individuals.

“Well, I think we need to do better than blockade. You need to wear a mask and do all the other interventions that are part of this package.”
According to the Health Protection Surveillance Center, 95,846 tests have been performed in the last 7 days with a positive rate of 5.2%.
Lambert also sought a strategy to safely exit Level 5 and prevent it from happening again.
He added that the government did not emphasize “low-tech” solutions such as masking and social distance as it should.
Dr. Lambert said: “The use of masks is appropriate in all situations where social distance cannot be maintained, which is the case in most situations in the urban community outside and inside.
“Because you are wearing a mask in a community of young adults, you will not bring the mask back to a vulnerable grandmother, vulnerable aunt or uncle who has a COVID risk indicator.”
