Veteran South African actor Louis van Niekerk has died

South African actor Louis van Niekerk has died. He was 87 years old.

NvR Management confirmed the actor’s death in a statement Tuesday.

“It is with deep sadness that we learned this evening of the passing of Louis van Niekerk,” the statement read. Facebook bed.

“Sincere condolences to all his family, friends and colleagues. Our culture and arts are poorer. A big tree fell today.”

Van Niekerk was a television, theater and film actor as well as a theater manager. He was best known for his role as Uncle Festus on the popular soapie kykNET Married to rugbywhich was canceled in 2022 after 14 years on the air.

Van Niekerk’s cause of death has yet to be revealed.
