EAST TAWAS Whether the weekend brings rain, shine or even snow, the Easter egg hunt scheduled for this Saturday, March 30 will go ahead as planned. The event begins at 11 a.m. at Tawas Point State Park, located at 686 Tawas Beach Rd. in Tawas East.
The Easter Egg Hunt is hosted by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, with support from the Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse and State Park.
In addition to more than 4,000 candy-filled eggs spread across the grounds, visitors will also be able to take photos with the occasional Easter Bunny. Participants will especially want to keep an eye out for golden eggs, which will earn those who find them a special prize.
Aimed at children in the community, the event will have three different age groups, 5 and under, 6-8 and 9-12, all starting at the same time. Before setting off in search of eggs, participants will meet at the lighthouse.
The festivities are open to the public and free, but organizers remind visitors that a recreational passport is required for vehicle entry into the state park. They also encourage participants to dress appropriately, as the hunt will take place regardless of the weather.
