Warren Trolling Detroit With New Hollywood-Style City Name Sign

This weekend will be the little taste of the national football league that football fans will be treated to over the next few months until the start of pre-season for the new season. The NFL Draft is being held in Detroit and is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of people who would not normally happily flock to Detroit.

In preparation for the NFL draft, the city announced it would erect a Hollywood-style Detroit sign, welcoming outsiders to the city. But what happened was the laughing stock of the Internet, because the sign people were waiting for was not the one that got.

The sign even prompted residents like Detroit rapper Gmac Cash to write two songs about how ridiculous the sign placed on the side of the highway looked. Today, towns like Warren are applauding and jumping on the troll bandwagon. Someone in the city erected a cardboard sign that also looks like the Detroit sign.

As you can see below, the big difference is that the cardboard one doesn't light up… Yet.

Which sign do you think is better and, more importantly, do you think the Warren sign is a better fit for what it is advertising?

Personally, I find the sign hilarious and love the fact that something that was supposed to be so uplifting for the city and state is now becoming hardcore clowning. It perfectly represents what the city is. We can laugh at ourselves, but it remains ours.

I can't wait to see the Warren sign in person, and the Detroit one too, I guess.
