Purple Eagles close out regular season against Quinnipiac
Hamden, C.TThe Niagara tennis teams concluded the regular season on Sunday when both the men's and women's teams took on Quinnipiac. The women's team lost 4-0 to the Bobcats, while the men lost 5-2 to the Bobcats.
Ladies summary
Double
Coral Rodriguez And Gabriela Melo were placed in first doubles. The duo fell 7-5 to the Bobcats.
Elena Mayet And Larisa Kotok fell in the second doubles 6-2.
In the third doubles match Jaida Borg And Enrica Favaron fell 6-3 when Quinnipiac hit a sweep double.
Singles
Mayet was seeded in first singles for the Purple Eagles, falling in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
Rodriguez fell in straight sets at second singles. She fell in both sets 6-2.
In the fourth singles, Borg fell 6-0, 6-3.
The rest of the singles matches did not end as Quinnipiac secured the match win.
Melo took the first set in the third singles and led 3-2 in the second set.
Kotok led 4-1 in the second set of sixth singles.
Men's summary
Double
Gurustat Makkar And Rohan Srivastava fell 6-0 in third doubles.
The first-year duo of Vid Maric and José Maria García fell 6-2 in second doubles as Quinnipiac took the doubles point.
Trevor Masi And Tanner Bedard were tied at four in the first doubles match before it was ended as Quinnipiac took the doubles point.
Singles
In second singles, Masi fell 6-4 in the opening set. In the second set he forced a third set with a 7-5 victory in the second set. He came away with a three-set win, winning 6-4 in the third set.
Manuel Alonso earned a fifth singles victory. He won the first set 6-2. After falling in the second set, he took the match win with a 10-6 victory in the third set.
Bedard was on the lead singles for the Purple Eagles. He fell in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
Maric fell in three sets at third singles.
In the fourth singles, Makkar fell 7-5, 6-0.
Garcia was seeded in sixth singles, falling in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.

The women's team finishes the MAAC regular season with a 4-2 record and sits in third place in the MAAC Championship standings. The Purple Eagles will play either Fairfield or Quinnipiac on April 20 in West Windsor, NJ
The men's team finishes the season with a 7-6 record and a 2-4 MAAC record.
