Men's tennis earns No. 8 national seed, faces Quinnipiac in first round of NCAA tournament
NEW YORK Columbia earned the No. 8 national seed and will begin the 2024 NCAA Tournament with a first-round match against Quinnipiac on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Philip and Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center.
As the No. 8 national seed, Columbia continues to make history as the first Ivy League team to ever earn a top eight seed in the NCAA Tournament. Columbia will host its fifth regional in the past decade and will have the opportunity to host a super regional this weekend for the first time in program history with two wins.

Columbia finished the regular season with a 20-3 overall record and a 6-1 mark in Ivy League action. The Lions claimed the Ivy League title for the 17e time in program history after winning their final six regular season games. It was Columbia's first crown under coach Howard Endelman '87CC.
Columbia has eleven wins this season over opponents in the ITA Top 75. The Lions are currently ranked seventh, but peaked at fourth earlier this season for the best ranking in program history.
The Lions will face Quinnipiac in the first round on Friday afternoon. The Bobcats claimed their first-ever MAAC championship by defeating Fairfield 4-2 in the championship game. Quinnipiac is 14-10 overall this season and finished conference play with a 5-1 mark.
Columbia's regional also features 29e-ranked Michigan and Binghamton. Michigan made a run to the Big Ten Tournament Championship game, eventually falling to No. 1 Ohio State. Binghamton
After the regional championships, super-regional play begins to determine the eight teams that will earn their spots for the NCAA National Championships held May 16-19 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
