Hampton residents' favorite clubs for tennis, paddle and pickleball

The 2024 US Open Tennis Championship is just around the corner. While the pros battle it out in Flushing Meadows, Hampton residents can hone their moves at a series of exclusive new racquet clubs.

These aren’t your typical, run-of-the-mill country clubs. They’re upscale, social, and all about wellness, both on and off the course. They offer members access to not only beautifully manicured courses, but also views, spas, personal trainers, Michelin-starred dining, and exclusive soirees.

It bridges the gap between private social membership clubs and the traditional country club, said Waylon Ian Chin, CEO of NOAAa private members club that opened in East Hampton in May. Our thesis was about creating a club that is good for you.

Members, who pay an initiation fee of $30,000 plus $12,000 in annual dues, can play on one of ten tennis courts. Two are made of European red clay and eight are made of har tru clay, which is ground granular stone.

The eight-hectare campus of pristine greenery also features four pickleball courts, three paddle courts, a wellness area with cold plunge pools and an infrared sauna, a shop, a bar and a restaurant run by a Michelin-starred food group. We thought country clubs had a bad reputation when it came to the quality of their menus, Ian Chin said. We said, let’s really dig into that.

Another club that is on the move this summer is the Racket Lounge in Southampton, a five-hectare oasis with four paddle courts, six pickleball courts and seven tennis courts (six Har-Tru and one hard court).

It was founded in 2023 by the Kent Hospitality Groupthe masterminds behind SAGA, Crown Shy and Overstory in New York City (SAGA does all the food at the Racquet Lounge and consists primarily of gourmet sandwiches, salads and smoothies.)

Don't let the name fool you, Southampton's Racquet Lounge is all about activity. Padel, pickleball and tennis courts are spread across the five-acre club. Thanks to the Racquet Lounge

Members can play among themselves or take lessons from attractive pros. They can also participate in tournaments, camps and social events such as lobster bakes and barbecues (a new clubhouse in the center of the grounds offers balconies with views for those who want to watch the action from above.)

Other new clubs are skipping tennis and offering pickleball or paddle, sports that are growing rapidly, especially among the rich and famous.

Padel enthusiasts can enjoy Montauk Private Padellocated at the Montauk Yacht Club, which reopened in May under the group that owns Proper Hotels. The new padel courts are located on the harbor and are surrounded by glass walls, meaning players, who pay $500 for the season, get unobstructed views of the surrounding yachts and wildlife.

“We saw court bookings double from June to July and we are on track to double July bookings in August,” said Nicholas Solarewicz, Founder and CEO.

The biggest challenge at Montauk's Priv Padel is to keep your eyes on the ball, while having beautiful views from all sides of the court. Thanks to Priv Padel

Windwhich also opened this summer in East Hampton, has three paddle courts and a 40,000-square-foot lounge with an outdoor sauna and yoga studio; a snack bar; and a gaming area. All of the furniture, including a wooden ping-pong table, is handmade by artisans in Mexico. The latter is made from a single piece of wood harvested from a remote Mexican forest, founder Rohan Kamdar said.

Members can participate in padel clinics to improve their game. But they can also make candles, flower arranging and ceramics (there is a pottery on site.)

The spirit is bohemian, Kamdar said. Brisas hopes to revitalize an outdated industry by stripping the classic country club of its all-white outfits and instead inviting all walks of life to come out and play barefoot and be their most authentic selves.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
