Georgia Tech hosts Atlanta Science Festival opening event

This weekend, the annual Atlanta Science Festival kicks off with Georgia Tech Science and Engineering Day. On Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the institute will host his STEAM activities for the whole family. His two-week celebration of STEAM education and career opportunities, ASF, will feature more than 100 of his events and demonstrations for people of all ages across the city.

Science and Engineering Day is designed to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists and share the breadth and impact of Georgia Tech research with the local community. The theme of this year's event is space and will also feature former NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough, MS ISyE 1998, who spent an incredible 388 days in space.

Participants will step off the launch pad in the Kendeda Building for Innovative and Sustainable Design, where they will receive a Galactic Passport that will guide them on a journey around Georgia Tech's world. Each planet or building will host multiple hands-on activities led by Georgia Tech students, researchers, faculty, and staff. There are over 50 interactive exhibits for attendees to experience.

Following Science and Engineering Day, Georgia Tech's NeuroNEXT Initiative is co-sponsoring with Emory University a film screening that combines neuroscience research with movement and insights into the experiences of people living with Parkinson's disease and dementia. and a live performance. These interactive events include acrobatics from the Circus Arts Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer Center (CRITAC), the research arm of Canada's National Circus School.
