Apple is preparing to revamp its entire Mac lineup with AI-focused M4 processors, according to a report from Bloomberg's Mark Garman. The new M4-powered Macs will reportedly start arriving later this year, with the rest arriving in early 2025.

Apple just launched its first MacBook Pro with the M3 chip in November 2023, but the company is close to producing the M4 chip, people told Bloomberg. Apple will reportedly emphasize AI processing capabilities after the M4's launch, likely in response to the large number of competing AI PCs on the market and weak Mac sales.

According to Bloomberg, the M4 chip has at least three different tiers, including an entry-level M4 chip codenamed Donan, a mid-tier Brava chip, and a top-performing Hydra chip. Apple is reportedly adding Donnan to the entry-level MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and lower-end Mac Mini. Meanwhile, Bloomberg reports that Apple plans to reserve the mid-tier Brava for the higher-spec MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and Mac Studio, and add the top-of-the-line Hydra chip to the Mac Pro.
