Toronto is one of five Canadian cities that can now be viewed in Google Immersive View, a new feature that gives users a realistic, multi-dimensional view of a city on the Google Maps platform.

The feature launched last year in cities including Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Berlin, and is now available in Montreal, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Edmonton.

The new feature uses AI to blend billions of Street View and aerial imagery together, allowing people to virtually experience cities.

Imagine you're planning a summer vacation trip to Toronto: Google Maps' Immersive View lets you experience the city before you arrive, Google said in a news blog.

Take a virtual flight above the iconic CN Tower, then seamlessly descend to ground level to explore nearby restaurants, hotels, and attractions.

Google says users will be able to virtually stroll the charming cobblestone streets of Old Montreal or take in views of Ottawa's historic Parliament Buildings from their phones.

Viewers can also use the time slider to see the temperature, how busy an area is, and what the city looks like at different times of the day.
