Magnitude 5.3 earthquake strikes parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Gilgit-Baltistan

PESHAWAR: An earthquake was felt in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan province on Saturday evening, ARY news agency reported, citing NSMC.

The National Seismological Center (NSMC) confirmed the earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale.

According to the NSMC, the earthquake was at a depth of 180 kilometers, the epicenter of which was the border region between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

The quake was felt in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Swat, Malakand, Swabi, Lower Dir, Chitral and other districts of the province.

Likewise, tremors were also felt in Gilgit, Chilas, Jaglot, Astor and other nearby areas in the Great Britain region.

People felt the earthquake by the earthquake and fled in panic from their homes while reciting verses from the Holy Quran.

An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hit various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province on Friday morning.
