George Floyd: African Americans are more likely to throw fat – BBC News
The death of George Floyd and subsequent protests have once again raised the question of how U.S. police treat African Americans and how protests exist.
This week’s U.S. riots began with a terrifying video of a black man George Floyd fighting a white police officer while he was scared.
Since then, hundreds of other videos and testimonies have followed, including police violence and discrimination across America.

The numbers available to police for incidents in which people are shot and killed show that the chances for African Americans are much higher than the overall number of the U.S. population.
In fact, in 2019, even though African Americans made up less than 14% of the population (according to official census figures), 1,000 police shootings were more than 23%.
This figure is fairly consistent since 2017, as the number of white victims has dropped since then.
