1.5 magnitude earthquake in the British city of Blackpool

The British Geological Survey recorded a magnitude 1.5 earthquake in Blackpool.

The earthquake occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, with shocked residents reporting their lockers shaking.

Others reported hearing a noise like a train approaching around the time of the earthquake.

The SUN has gathered that locals have taken to social media to ask if others have “felt the earthquake” in Blackpool.

Someone said, “Me, I wasn’t sure what it was at first but Dave felt it!”

Another commented: “My friend at Plumpton felt nothing in the middle of Blackpool.”

According to Lancs Live, the British Geological Survey said, “We have received large bogus reports online from residents of Blackpool, Little Plumpton, Witton and Westby of this event. The reports described, ‘Noises like an approaching train’, and ‘We and several neighbours heard it ‘, ‘Our Dogs Got Annoyed’ and ‘Computer and Cabinets Shake’.

She added that the earthquake is only the second to occur near Lancashire in the last 60 days, as the first earthquake occurred 35 kilometers off the coast of Blackpool in the Irish Sea.

Blackpool communities worried about the tremors returning when former Prime Minister Liz Truss overturned a ban on fracking last year.
