A powerful earthquake hit 7.1 people near Tonga, prompting the first tsunami warning that was later brought to the country of the Pacific Island.

The American Geological Survey said the earthquake was about 62 miles northeast of the main island in the early morning hours of local time on Monday.

The Pacific Tsunami in Hawaii issued an alert saying that the dangerous waves could be possible, but later he said there was no longer a tsunami threat.
