4.1 magnitude earthquake beneath Kilauea volcano

(Bevin) – A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck the island of Hawaii on Sunday night.

The United States Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) recorded a magnitude 4.1 earthquake located under the southern flank of Klauea volcano on Sunday, March 14th at 8:59 PM, HST.

The epicenter was about 12 km (7 miles) southeast of a volcano, Hawaii, near the Hilei Pali area of ​​Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park at a depth of 7 km (4 miles). Light to moderate vibration, with a maximum intensity of V on a modified Mercalli density scale, has been reported across the island of Hawaii.
