An earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale hit Boulder

Residents of Kalgoorlie Boulder received a jolt on Tuesday afternoon, as a 3.2 magnitude earthquake shook the city.

Residents felt the movement at 3.14pm, which left some locals wondering if it was an earthquake or an explosion at a mine site.

Resident Trish Devlin, who was at her home in Piccadilly at the time, said she had not felt a strong tremor since the city was hit by a 5.2-magnitude earthquake in 2010 – the largest in the region in the past 100 years.

She said, “It was too strong to have an explosion.”

The whole house was shaking, and all the cupboards and dishes were shaking. I felt it under my feet. ”

Within a few seconds, Geoscience Australia recorded an earthquake 5 kilometers north of the city near Canona.

Teachers were supervising an after-school pickup at Saint Mary’s Elementary School in Piccadilly when the earthquake struck.

“It was very scary,” one teacher said. “All the children cried.”

There were no reports of damage in the aftermath of the quake.
