Schools to repair earthquake damage North Stafford, roof leakage

The Stafford School Board decided to approve three new construction projects and put them up at their last meeting on April 28.

Fix external walls at North Stafford High School

It will cost $ 1.3 million to repair the structural integrity of the exterior brick walls at North Stafford High School, which is located at 839 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford.

The biggest five feet from the wall is the biggest problem home. School officials said that when the wall was initially built, the upper blocks were not properly installed in the building and thus posed a safety problem.

A funding source for this project has not been verified as it will depend on funds from the Board of Supervisors. Since the links that would connect the upper blocks to the building were left out of the original construction, the project does not cover insurance.

“We don’t know where that money comes from,” said President Holly Hazard.

The proposal to approve the project was passed in a narrow 4-3 vote with supervisors Patricia Healy, Irene Holerback, and Hazard are opposing votes.

Delivery of furniture for the initial refurbishment of the ferry farm

A $ 170,000 furniture delivery will help move Ferry Farm to its first stage of renovation.

Delivery includes classroom furniture and shared libraries such as tables, chairs, desks, and bookcases.

The order was originally going to be $ 250,000, but was cut down by county employees who paid some purchases for later construction stages.

“These children need a place to sit, work and produce, so I will support that,” said Hollerbach.

The first phase of the renovation is scheduled to be completed by August.
