Sri Lanka suffers environmental disaster as oil spills from wrecked ship – BBC News

It is feared that hundreds of tonnes of oil will be dumped into Sri Lanka from the damaged cargo ship, adding to what is already a major environmental disaster. The container vessel caught fire and large quantities of plastic pellets in the vessel have already spread to the west coast of Sri Lanka, polluting clean beaches and threatening the country’s fishing industry.
